Artist Statement

Why I Paint

Like many of us, I am pained by the way we live on this planet.
We hurt each other.
We take from our planet as if there were replacements somewhere else.

And yet, I remain hopeful.

I believe humanity needs time to mature.
That one day, we may learn to be kinder, to each other and to the world that carries us.

So I paint.

Painting allows me to speak without certainty,
to question, to climb, to become.
It helps me step outside habit, outside the usual way of seeing.

It is, in a way, my meditation.
A quiet belief that we will be all right.

Art and Children

I also bring art to children.

Because we need more canvases and fewer screens.
We need their innocent touch, their honesty, and their freedom.

In their hands, I see possibility.
And I hope some of them will carry it forward.

Materials and Process

All forms of painting fascinate me.

From the transparency of watercolour
to the strength of acrylic
to the depth and richness of oil

Each medium offers a different way of seeing.

For me, the method is secondary.
What matters is simple:

Does it say something?

On Identity

I am often told that I should develop a clear artistic identity,
something recognizable, something consistent.

I understand this.

Identity can bring clarity, recognition, even success.
But I also believe that a fixed identity can become a boundary.

And I am not interested in staying within boundaries.

I choose instead to remain open

to explore, to shift, to evolve.

Not to be defined,
but to become.
