Raymond E. Merhej

Raymond is of Lebanese origin. Although he has been painting for over 40 years, much of his life was dedicated to academia. He holds a master’s degree in business and spent many years teaching and managing schools and universities in Beirut.

 In 1990, he emigrated to Canada. Through determination and hard work, he focused on building a new life in his new home, successfully founding companies in IT, publishing, and real estate.

 He has a range of other interests, including community involvement, music, flying, and archery. Now, he is thrilled to dedicate most of his time to his true passion—art. He simply can’t resist the call of a canvas.

In his artistic journey, he is constantly exploring various media and techniques, driven by a curiosity to uncover each material's expressive potential. While he embraces all forms of artistic expression, he is especially captivated by the limitless possibilities that come with experimentation and discovery.

Raymond studied art, in addition to many courses and workshops, with Master Artist Aleksander Kostenka, who patiently taught him to respect tools and paints, to admire colors coming to life, to understand how painting interact with emotions. Most importantly, he learned the respect of every touch of the brush should have on the canvas
